Wheels of Welcome is an exciting project providing asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in Coventry with bikes, safety equipment, and accessible cycling support. Through regular cycling sessions, hands-on maintenance workshops, and culturally sensitive training—such as women-only rides and appropriate cycling gear—we help individuals overcome barriers to physical activity, improve their wellbeing, and access opportunities across the city.
The project supports community integration, independence, and better health through active travel. We are inviting the community to be part of this work: if you would like to support Wheels of Welcome, you can donate bikes or equipment, sponsor a bike, or volunteer to help those who need it most. Your support makes it possible for more people to get moving, connect, and thrive in Coventry.

Sponsoring a bike for one of our clients can open up vital access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and employment by providing affordable, reliable transportation. Many refugees and asylum seekers face transport costs and mobility barriers that limit their independence and opportunities. A bike helps overcome these obstacles, enabling clients to connect with their community, attend appointments, and pursue work or learning opportunities that are otherwise out of reach.
Beyond practical access, cycling contributes significantly to physical and mental wellbeing. Regular physical activity reduces stress and improves fitness, helping clients combat feelings of isolation by fostering social connections through group rides and cycling workshops. This empowering experience supports building confidence and hope, essential for clients rebuilding their lives in a new environment. Together, these benefits promote greater integration, independence, and the chance for a healthier, more connected future.
